Campaign for the Precious Ones
The Campaign for the Precious Ones was created to honor the humanity of the unborn child lost through miscarriage, early infant death, or abortion. Through prayer, education, and access to burial, these lives will be remembered with dignity and respect.
The Campaign is made up of three parts:
- Mass for the Precious Ones at the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche.
- Red Bird Ministry to promote healing through grief group and directed prayer.
- Precious Ones Baby Mausoleum.
Mass for the Precious Ones
Each year, the Office of Human Life and Dignity hosts a Mass for families of “precious ones” following a loss through miscarriage, child loss or following a healing program after an abortion. These Masses are held in November to remember Holy Souls at the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche in St. Augustine and the Santa Fe Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche in High Springs.
The next scheduled Mass for the Precious Ones is November 3, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche in St. Augustine.
Precious Ones Mass Cards
Precious Ones Mass Cards are available to be given to grieving parents, families, or friends who have lost a child due to miscarriage or early infant death or to those in a post-abortion healing program. The Mass cards serve as an invitation to the Precious Ones Masses. Mass cards are available for $10 by contacting the Office of Human Life and Dignity. The child will be remembered in daily prayer at the Precious Ones Mass, and the donation will go to the campaign to help families following a miscarriage.
Precious Ones burial swaddles and outfits are also available free of charge by contacting the Office of Human Life and Dignity at (904) 262-3200, ext. 159.
Precious Ones Baby Mausoleum
The precious ones baby mausoleum for unborn children lost through miscarriage and early infant death has been completed in an area of San Lorenzo cemetery in St. Augustine. There is a garden and a bench for families visiting, and baby and family names may be printed on paver bricks. Donations are welcome!
