Blessing of the Fleet

The Blessing of the Fleet, a historical ceremony dating back to the city’s earliest days of Spanish colonial occupation, happens annually on Palm Sunday, beginning at noon. On Sunday, March 29, as all vessels—commercial and pleasure—are invited to receive a blessing from the Bishop of the Diocese of St. Augustine. The event will be from noon to 2 p.m. with a procession from the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine, located at 38 Cathedral Place to the St. Augustine Municipal Marina, at 111 Avenida Menendez. The boats travel from the 312 Bridge, north to the Bridge of Lions, and circle to pass by the municipal marina for their blessing by Bishop Erik Pohlmeier.
