San Jose breaks ground on new classrooms, parish hall and columbarium

Members of San Jose Catholic Parish braved the cold weather conditions to witness the groundbreaking ceremony for their latest project to build new classrooms, a parish hall and a new columbarium.

Bishop Erik Pohlmeier led the ceremony and blessed the land where the new facilities will be constructed.

The $10 million project will include a pair of classrooms, each for kindergarten, first grade and third grade, a STREAM lab, learning support classroom and a faculty lounge.

Adding classrooms and learning space will help San Jose Catholic School continue to grow its enrollment, which is currently at 475 students.

This significant moment marks an exciting step forward in the life of the parish and reflects the faith, prayer, and remarkable generosity of its community.

Construction of a parish hall and columbarium are also part of the project, as the parish does not currently have a parish hall to host events and the columbarium will replace the current one on the grounds and be much larger.

The estimated completion of the project is June 2027.

It is just the latest project for San Jose, as they completed a church renovation in 2024.

With hope and gratitude, the parish looks ahead to all those who will be formed and served through this expansion.
