Join Us in Prayer for the Five First Saturdays for Life

The Diocese of St. Augustine warmly invites Catholics and members of the community to participate in the Five First Saturdays for Life to Defeat Amendment 4. Gatherings will take place at the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche at Mission Nombre de Dios in St. Augustine and the Santa Fe Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche in High Springs.

The Five First Saturdays for Life begin this coming Saturday, July 6, and continue each Saturday, Aug. 3, Sept. 7, Oct. 5 and Nov. 2. Each shrine has a schedule of services for each First Saturday that includes Mass, confession, Eucharistic Adoration, praying the rosary, speakers on topics of Mary and promoting life. Bishop Erik Pohlmeier will give a talk entitled, “It is More Important to be Faithful than Successful” on Nov. 2 at 4:30 p.m. To download the two-page flyer, click here.

What is the Five First Saturdays Devotion?

The devotion is a key aspect of the Fatima message, emphasizing the urgent need for humanity to make amends for the numerous offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary by both irreverent and indifferent individuals.

The devotion, practiced on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, includes:

  • Going to confession,
  • Receiving Holy Communion,
  • Praying five decades of the rosary,
  • Meditating for 15 minutes on the mysteries of the rosary.

All these acts are offered in reparation for the sins of blasphemy and ingratitude against the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Visit https://americaneedsfatima.org/prayers/the-five-first-saturdays-devotion for more information.
