Vacation Bible School (VBS) at St. William Parish

Eighteen children experienced Christ’s loving care during the June Vacation Bible School (VBS) at St. William Parish in Keystone Heights. Kathryn Smersh, the director of religious education, shared that the event was a huge success.

This year’s VBS provided a wonderful experience for all the participants, with a wide range of activities centered around the theme “Spending Time with the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.” The children enjoyed watching a video about St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, crafting peg dolls representing the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, designing tie-dye t-shirts featuring both hearts, attending chapel for adoration, taking part in prayers, playing games like four corners and sacred heart trivia, creating their own artistic interpretations of the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart and joining in entertaining and educational songs and activities.

According to Smersh, one of the most rewarding aspects of this year’s VBS was the impact it had on the children. Seeing them excited to come to church, have fun, laugh and learn about Jesus and Mary was a source of immense joy for her and all those who helped make VBS successful. She also noted the children’s excitement at meeting the seminarians Colter Brown and Anthony Scott, which added to the overall positive experience.
