Join us tomorrow, December 8, at 7:00 p.m. for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception Mass with Bishop Erik Pohlmeier. The Mass will be held at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception at 121 E. Duval Street in Jacksonville.
The Feast of the Immaculate Conception is a special and holy day of obligation in the Church. It is a day to celebrate the pure and sinless conception of the Virgin Mary, which is a fundamental preparation for the Lord’s coming into the world. On this day, you have the opportunity to attend the Mass at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and receive a plenary indulgence.
To receive a plenary indulgence, specific requirements are needed to be fulfilled. First, you must confess your sins either 20 days before or after December 8. Second, you need to receive Holy Communion during the Mass. Third, you are required to pray for the intentions of the Holy Father, which can be done by saying one Hail Mary and one Our Father. Finally, you must have the interior disposition of complete detachment from sin, even venial sin.
After the Mass, there will be a potluck dinner where everyone is welcome to bring a dish to share. It is a time of fellowship and celebration, where you can enjoy the company of others and share in the joy of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
