Confraternity of Our Lady of La Leche Reinstated

452 years ago, the Confraternity of Our Lady of La Leche was founded to evangelize and grow in faith through devotion to Our Lady of La Leche, the Nursing Mother. And centuries later, the Confraternity will be reestablished in the Diocese of St. Augustine

Bishop Felipe Estévez will celebrate Mass with a special blessing for the reinstatement of the Confraternity on Aug. 22 at 6 p.m. at the Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche at Mission Nombre de Dios, 101 San Marco Avenue, St. Augustine. Following the Mass, there will be a brief talk with general information about the Confraternity. All who are interesting in becoming a member are invited to attend and can RSVP to info@missionandshrine.org.

The Confraternity of Our Lady of La Leche is a public association of the faithful, established by the Bishop of the Diocese of Saint Augustine, who spread devotion to Our Lady of La Leche. Members commit to maintaining an active prayer life and strive for personal holiness while spreading devotion to Our Lady of La Leche and participating in their parish life and works of evangelization.

Some requirements to be part of the Confraternity include being a practicing Catholic interested in beginning a devotion to Our Lady of La Leche or deepening that devotion to her; living a deeper sacramental life, daily prayer life – which will include prayers to Our Lady of La Leche; participating in retreats at Shrine; and attending monthly meetings with Mass and prayers.  All of this, in order to deepen one’s love for Jesus Christ the Savior, the babe in His Mother’s arms and thus spread the devotion throughout the diocese, state, nation and world.
