Florida created the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship in 2001 to give low-income students learning options that are not available to them because of their financial circumstances. It allows them to consider whether a private school might be a better fit academically.
Last year, the program served 78,120 students in 1,594 private schools throughout the state, and the mix is truly eclectic. The average school in the 2014-2015 school year had 45 scholarship students. All Catholic schools in the Diocese of St. Augustine accept the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship funding and some can accommodate the Florida Personal Learning Scholarship Account (PLSA).
Parents, if you are not sure if your income level qualifies, contact the program administrators. Many families received partial scholarships based on a number of criteria. These scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. So apply today. Click here for more information or call the Office of Catholic Schools at (904) 262-3200, ext. 116.
