For 72 years, Bishop Kenny High School has provided a quality Catholic education to students in Jacksonville. Its beautiful campus on the banks of the St. Johns River has served as a beacon of faith for the thousands of students in North Florida who were blessed to receive their high school educations there.

The Catholic Foundation is especially honored to partner with Bishop Kenny High School by stewarding several endowment funds that benefit Bishop Kenny. As permanent endowments, these funds will provide annual financial support to Bishop Kenny in perpetuity. Sheila Marovich, longtime director of advancement at Bishop Kenny said, “These endowments, established through the generosity of our extended BK family, are making an impact on the lives of students today and will continue to do so for generations to come.”

William Joos, a retired Jacksonville attorney and Bishop Kenny alumnus, honored his parents, Louis and Genevieve Joos, by creating an endowment fund in their names. This fund yields annual revenue for the support of teachers and technological advancements.

The J. Conners Family Scholarship provides support to students who require financial assistance. Dr. Jim Conners, who passed away in 2021, and his wife, Jackie, began contributing to this scholarship 35 years ago. Due to the Conners’ generosity, many Bishop Kenny students were able to receive a quality Catholic education.

Another scholarship supporting students with financial need was established to honor a Bishop Kenny student who passed away in 1980 at the age of 17. The Tommy Barrett Triglia Memorial Scholarship was inspired by the Triglia family’s desire to memorialize their late son and brother.

The Bishop Kenny High School General Endowment Fund was one of the earliest funds established at the Catholic Foundation. Gifts to this fund support the general operation of the school by providing a reliable and sustainable flow of income. Patty DiSandro, executive director of the Catholic Foundation said, “Giving to the general fund is a wonderful way for the Bishop Kenny community to pay tribute to their alma mater and ensure other young people have the same educational blessings they did.”

“Steeped in tradition, committed to excellence and anchored in faith.” This description, taken from Bishop Kenny’s website, explains the wide support Bishop Kenny enjoys across the diocese. Kenny, as alumni affectionately refer to their beloved school, is the beneficiary of more and more estate gift plans. With over 1200 students in attendance, there are many ways to support Bishop Kenny High School. Like the Joos, Conners, and Triglia families, and many more generous Kenny supporters, you, too, can ensure this beacon of faith continues to offer a quality Catholic education for future generations.
