“Shoot for the stars” and raise funds for Morning Star Catholic School at their 14th Annual Shoot for the Stars Golf Tournament. The tournament is Monday, May 16 at San Jose Country Club (7529 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville). Registration opens at 10 a.m., followed by lunch at 11 a.m. and a noon shotgun start. The cost to attend is $300 per player.
The tournament will feature hole-in-one prizes, goodie bags, a luncheon, an award celebration dinner, putting contest, raffle prizes and more! Tournament proceeds help with purchasing up-to-date curriculum programming, modernizing technology for classroom student use and assisting families with tuition assistance. Established in 1956, Morning Star School is the only special education school in the Diocese of St. Augustine serving K-12 children with learning and intellectual differences.
The school provides a unique, inspiring and faith-based education for children in Kindergarten through 12th grade with learning differences including specific learning disabilities, ADD, mild intellectual disabilities, processing deficits, and high functioning Autism.
“Our golf tournament is one of our largest fundraisers. Funds raised help supplement the budget, provide enhancements to our classrooms and purchase up-to-date educational tools for our students”, said Elaine Shott, principal of Morning Star School, “each year we struggle with tuition assistance. Our tournament also helps us establish a dedicated fund to aids families that cannot afford special education for their child.”
