Planning Study Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Several weeks ago, you heard about the diocesan planning study. You may have questions about the planning study and this process, so we have compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions.

Funding these projects will require an extraordinary effort, and so we are considering a major capital campaign. The planning study will measure our ability to accomplish some or all of these projects and our ability to move forward with a capital campaign.

Q. What is a planning study?

A. It is an assessment used to gauge support for a capital campaign that would address some or all of the needs identified in the fact sheet. The study will tell us which projects you believe are the most important and will help guide our planning for a potential fundraising effort.

Q. How is the study being conducted?

A. Every family in the diocese will be encouraged to participate in the planning study and there will be a variety of ways you can provide your thoughts and opinions – through interviews, attending a listening session and completing a survey or completing a survey online.

Q. Why are we doing this study and potentially starting a campaign?

A. The Diocese of St. Augustine recently completed a comprehensive master plan that will guide us through the upcoming years. This plan will help us address our current needs, as well as take prudent, thoughtful steps to prepare for the future needs of our church. The most urgent needs identified through our master planning process are:

  • Acquire the Sisters of St. Joseph’s (SSJ) property in St. Augustine and build a new convent
  • Transform the SSJ property and buildings for diocesan use
  • Provide funds for new parishes & schools
  • Address needs in all the parishes of the diocese
