Jubilee Commemorating the 1700th Anniversary of the Council of Nicaea
October 25 @ 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
Christians from across North Florida are invited to join Bishop Erik Pohlmeier for The Jubilee Commemorating the 1700th Anniversary of the Council of Nicaea on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to noon at Assumption Catholic Church, 2403 Atlantic Blvd., Jacksonville. The service will include the proclamation of Scripture, reflections by ecumenical leaders and the praying of the Nicene Creed as one. Bishop Pohlmeier will be joined by the Right Reverend William “Chip” Stokes, assisting bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Florida, and the Reverend Dr. Simon Osunlana, superintendent of the North East District of the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church. The Council of Nicaea, convened in A.D. 325, gave the Church the Nicene Creed — a profession of faith that continues to unite Christians across denominations. All are welcome.
