The Chancellor is one of the bishop’s chief aides and is responsible for overseeing diocesan operations and administration on behalf of the bishop. Canonically, the chancellor is the secretary of the curia and ecclesial notary of the diocese. As such, the chancellor ensures the acts of the curia are gathered, arranged, and safeguarded in the diocesan archives.
