The Office of Christian Formation is expanding its commitment to strengthen faith formation in homes, parishes and schools across the Diocese of St. Augustine. Over the past several years, OCF has updated its curriculum, expanded training for catechetical leaders and joined 24 other dioceses in a $5 million Lilly Grant initiative focused on renewing family catechesis nationwide.
At the heart of this work is a simple truth: formation begins long before a child steps into a classroom — it begins at home, in the domestic church. Many parents want to live out the promises they made at their child’s baptism but are unsure how to begin. This event is designed to give them confidence, encouragement and practical tools.
To support families and all who walk with them, the OCF will host Dr. Kathie Amidei, a nationally respected author and presenter known for her work in parish catechesis and family formation. Her workshop, It Starts at Home: Empowering Parents with Confidence and Tools, will offer practical guidance for nurturing faith in young children and helping parents become the primary witnesses of the Gospel in their homes.
This session is open to everyone who plays a role in forming young disciples — parents, catechists, teachers, clergy and parish leaders. Dr. Amidei will also meet with parish catechetical leaders on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
