Evening of Compassion Gala

October 17 @ 6:30 pm

Patients Not Prisoners, a nonprofit dedicated to advocating for individuals living with mental illness and their families, will host the annual event on Oct. 17 at Marywood Retreat & Conference Center. After a musical rendition by a harpist, Father Martin Ibeh will open the event with a powerful invocation, followed by a gourmet dinner followed by short inspirational talks by the St. Johns Sheriff’s Office. One of the evening’s highlights will be a presentation of a heartfelt song and dance depicting the pain of mental illness. Patients Not Prisoners aims to raise $100,000, with 75% of the funds directly benefiting Northeast Florida State Hospital. Severe budget cuts have left the hospital struggling to provide for the basic needs of its patients and staff, and these critical funds will support initiatives such as the renovation of the hospital’s visitor center and the construction of a peace park—spaces designed to provide patients with dignity, family connection, and a safe environment for reflection and healing. This event, held in honor of World Mental Health Day and a Catholic rap concert featuring world renowned artist John Levi for youth and the “young at heart” will be performed in a separate space from the gala. Prayer and confessions will be offered to the youth in attendance. For more information or to become a sponsor, please visit www.PatientsNotPrisoners.org or email patientsnotprisonersfl@gmail.com.
