Jubilee of Hope | Mass and Celebration for Persons with Disabilities

As part of the 2025 Jubilee Year, all are invited to the Jubilee Mass & Celebration for Persons with Disabilities on Sunday, May 4, beginning at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5752 Blanding Blvd. in Jacksonville.

This uplifting and welcoming gathering will begin with a sensory-friendly Mass celebrated by Father Ron Camarda. Designed with accommodation for individuals with sensory sensitivities, the Mass will include options such as reduced lighting and sound, noise-reduction headphones, fidget items and a welcoming environment for all ages and abilities.

Following Mass, families will gather in the parish hall for light refreshments, fellowship and meaningful connection. Parents and caregivers will have the opportunity to meet others facing similar challenges and share encouragement and experiences.

Children and young adults with special needs will enjoy a variety of fun and calming activities at specially designed sensory stations, including bubble machines, simple art projects and tactile play areas. These stations will be supervised by trained camp leaders and buddies who are experienced in working with individuals with disabilities.

The event will also feature an information area where organizations that serve the special needs of the community will provide helpful resources and services for families. The presence of local priests and religious sisters will offer spiritual support and a visible sign of the Church’s love and care for all its members.

This Jubilee celebration is rooted in the theme declared by Pope Francis—Pilgrims of Hope—and reflects the Church’s deep commitment to honoring the dignity of every person. In his words, “A society is all the more human to the degree that it cares effectively for its most frail and suffering members.”

Families with children or adults with special needs, caregivers, support workers and parishioners of all ages are encouraged to attend.

Come and be part of a community of joy, hope and belonging where all are welcomed, celebrated and embraced.
