Three Meaningful Milestones for Bishop Erik Pohlmeier
July is a special month in the life of our shepherd, Bishop Erik Pohlmeier—and for the entire Diocese of St. Augustine. It offers us three beautiful opportunities to reflect on the gift of his life, vocation and leadership.
July 20 – Happy Birthday, Bishop Pohlmeier!
Born in 1971, Bishop Erik Pohlmeier has dedicated much of his life to serving the Church with faithfulness and humility. As we celebrate his birthday, we give thanks to God for the life and witness of our bishop, and we ask the Lord to continue blessing him with wisdom, joy and strength.
July 22 – Ordained and Installed as the 11th Bishop of St. Augustine
Nearly three years ago, in 2022, Bishop Pohlmeier was ordained and installed as our diocesan bishop. Since then, he has led our community with a pastor’s heart, walking with us through times of challenge and hope. With his episcopal motto, “Seek First the Kingdom of God,” he reminds us all to keep Christ at the center of our lives and to live with courage and purpose.
July 25 – Ordination to the Priesthood
On this day in 1998, Bishop Pohlmeier was ordained a priest at Subiaco Abbey in Arkansas for the Archdiocese of Little Rock. His 27 years of priestly ministry have been marked by a deep love for Christ and the people of God, a commitment to evangelization, and a heart for forming disciples. Whether in the classroom, the parish or now in the bishop’s chair, his devotion to his priestly vocation continues to inspire.
As we mark these three important dates, we invite all the faithful to join in prayer for Bishop Pohlmeier. May the Lord continue to bless him abundantly in his ministry and grant him many more years of fruitful service in our diocese.
