Bishop Erik Pohlmeier took to the mound last night and threw in the ceremonial “First Pitch” kicking off the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp’s game against the Nashville Sounds. While it was a win-win seeing Bishop Pohlmeier throwing the first pitch of the night, our local team lost to the Sounds 6-2 at 121 Financial Ballpark.

Last night was Catholic Charities’ opportunity to participate in the “Good is Everywhere Wednesdays,” where the Jumbo Shrimp hosts various charities in the area. The charity has served the local community for 75 years as a compassionate partner in providing emergency financial assistance, food assistance, immigration legal services, refugee resettlement and caring for persons with intellectual and developmental differences. Don’t miss Catholic Night at the Ballpark on Saturday, Sept. 10. The Diocese of St. Augustine is once again hosting its annual event with our friends at the Jumbo Shrimp at 121 Financial Ballpark in Jacksonville. The annual family event began in 2012 with Bishop Felipe Estévez throwing the ceremonial “First Pitch” when the ball club was known as the Jacksonville Suns.

Gates open at 5 p.m. and the First Pitch is 6:35 p.m. There are two ticket prices: $13 each for group tickets or $26 each for the Circle K Deck tickets, which include an all-you-can-eat buffet of hamburgers, hot dogs, potato chips, cookies, soda, and water from 5:30 to 7 p.m. All seats for the game will be in sections 109-110.
