25th Annual Augustinian Address
August 28 @ 6:00 pm
Join us for the 25th Annual Augustinian Address on Wednesday, August 28, for an exceptional evening as we honor our patron, St. Augustine of Hippo. The event will kick off with the Liturgy of the Hours and recitation of evening prayer (vespers) led by Bishop Erik Pohlmeier at 6 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine. It will be followed by the annual Augustinian Address led by Dr. Gregory Cruess.
Gregory Cruess is an assistant professor of historical theology and pastoral ministry in the Department of Theology at the University of Dallas, where he also directs its graduate ministry programs. He earned his Doctorate in Theology with a specialization in church history from the University of Notre Dame, a Master of Theological Studies from Boston College and a Bachelor of Architecture (also from Notre Dame). His research focuses on the preaching and scriptural exegesis of early Christian authors, especially that of St. Augustine of Hippo. He is also passionate about ministry formation and theological education and has assisted the Diocese of Dallas in various aspects of its lay and diaconal formation. Along with his wife, Fatima, he has been involved in ministry for over a decade and (as a ministry spouse) has assisted in parish sacramental preparation (first Communion and confirmation), adult faith formation in a variety of capacities, and, most formatively, as a member of the RCIA team at St. Joseph’s Parish in South Bend, IN.
In his research and teaching, he seeks to renew and strengthen the life of the church through the retrieval and illumination of the Christian tradition as related to the concrete realities of life and ministry today.
